Types of Giving

The King's Christian School has several options to its donors for making a gift. Below are a few ways to make a conventional cash based gift. Other giving options are by leaving a gift via your last will and testament, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts. If you do not see an option that pertains to your situation, please contact our development department.

  1. Cash Gift - The Chronicle of Philanthropy reports that each year 90% of charitable gifts come from 10% of individuals. It is only through the individual support of you and others of like mind that The King's Christian School is able to accomplish all that it does every year for over 56 years. If you wish to make a cash gift now, you may do so in any of the following ways:

    • By Fax - Please advise the office of your intended gift by faxing your name, address, phone number, e-mail address to 856-489-6727.
    • By Phone - Call the development office at 856-489-6724 and ask how you can make a difference at The King's Christian School through your gift.
  2. Corporate Matching Gifts - Some people do not realize that through their employer they may be able to double or triple their gift through the matching gift program their employer offers. Many companies have these programs for their current employees and retirees to make contributions to the charity of their choice. Many are for educational institutions like The King's Christian School. Your gift is important to us and we encourage you to maximize your gift and it's impact through this type of program. Inquire with your human resource department as to what information is needed, then contact Adam Spencer of the development office at 856-489-6724 to help you through the process.
  3. Gifts of Stock - Gifts of securities are a wonderful way to make a gift that has tax advantages for you. Below are a couple of ways in which you can make a stock gift:
    • Electronically through your broker. The King's Christian School maintains an account with our broker Hilliard & Lyons. Call them Toll Free at 1-888-883-6587. Ask for Trish LaMotta or Kevin Ross. Let them know you would like to make gift of transferred stock to The King's Christian School. Give them the following information:

      DTC Number 0768
      They will guide you through the process. Please be sure to call our development office with the information as to the date the transfer is expected, the shares involved and the estimated value of the gift on the date of the transfer.
    • Securities delivered by mail - Contact Adam Spencer  at the development office, 856-489-6724. You will need to send the unendorsed certificate(s) and a stock power form. They must be sent in separate envelopes by registered mail to: The King's Christian School

    • Hand delivered or picked up. Call The development office to make an appointment with the development director, Adam Spencer. 856-489-6724. Note: The following information is needed to complete the gift transaction regardless of the method you choose:
      Donor's Name and complete address
      Phone number, fax number and e-mail address where you can be reached
      Name and number of shares transferred
      Gift designation (unrestricted, Vision to Reality Campaign, etc.)

Planned Giving

Planned gifts are commonly known as gifts made to a charitable organization through a will, gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts and other gifts that can provide guaranteed income to you and your spouse for life. And at rates that in most cases are above most banking rates as established by the American Council on Gift Annuities. (ACGA)
Below are examples of more commonly used gift planning vehicles today. Since every person has their own unique situation we recommend you talk to your financial advisor, tax accountant or attorney to have a thorough estate plan analysis done. If you do not have this type of assistance please contact our development office and we will provide you with some names of advisors for you to interview.

Including The King's Christian School in Your Will

Name The King's Christian School in your Last Will and Testament. You can choose to name a specific dollar amount, a specific number of shares of stock or a percentage of your estate.

To do this we suggest you use the following wording:

"I bequeath to The King's Christian School, 5 Carnegie Plaza, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003, (amount, or % ) of my estate to be used for… (be specific or simply state for the general operation)"

If you have not considered leaving a gift to The King's Christian School we would ask that you consider this option. If you have already named The King's Christian School in your will please let us know in order that we may properly thank you and you family .

Charitable Gift Annuities

A charitable gift annuity is a simple contract between and individual or couple and The King's Christian School. It is a financial and estate planning opportunity. They offer favorable tax benefits, a guaranteed stream of income for life and the knowledge that their gift is secure in perpetuity for the school. Today's rates range from 6% to 11.3% and are determined by your current age.

For example, a 75 year old person purchases a $25,000 (minimum, no maximum) single life charitable gift annuity (CGA) from The King's Christian School and chooses to receive an interest payment quarterly. The rate is 7.1%. The charitable deduction in the same year the gift annuity is taken is $19,936.00. Annual annuity will be $3,550.08. The tax free portion is $2,403.40
and the ordinary income is $1,146.60. And the monthly income for life is $295.84. There are other favorable estate tax issues as well. (This is an illustration only. The King's Christian School is not a financial advisor and you should consult your professional accountant and financial advisor)

Life Insurance Policy or Retirement Plan Beneficiary

When you purchase a life insurance policy you are asked to name a first and second beneficiary. Simply place the name of The King's Christian School, 5 Carnegie Plaza, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003 on the lines provided. It is as simple as that.

You may also do this through the employee benefit plan where you work. Many companies offer a nominal life insurance policy to their employees. Now, without even spending any money, you are able to name The King's Christian School, 5 Carnegie Plaza, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003 as the beneficiary.
